The video shows a montage of people reacting to the 9/11 attacks and pictures of the towers. Even after years this video makes me tear up, although I knew none of the casualties. I'm moved my the fact that one of the initial reactions to the events was music.


Craig Hella Johnson is an up and coming modern choral composer who is featured on TV, nominated for grammys, and director of one of the most superior choirs from the US., Conspirare. Many of his choir members are former Robert Shaw Chorale who worked with him during his lifetime.

I have also had the honor of singing a premier song. He is so full of emotion, and his work has such deep meaning. He is known for editing his scores up until publishing. Even then aspects are to be interpreted. For many writers, this would show theiir work to be simple and shallow. Take a listen to his "Requiem" which was written for the Tsunami's in Asia and then try to say that Johnson is simple and shallow. Very contrary. Working with him is a memory I will cherish forever.

But I digress, What I intended to add was that Conspirare performed Agnus Dei-- the choir arrangment of addagio. To my ear they are very different, but the same dark emotions are still there. If you find a video of this piece by them let me know. I know for sure it's on iTunes!

Dear You, (rant)

So, I'm going to be trying out for musicals in communities and college in the future, and I was wondering what I was lacking in my auditions and call backs, primarily this year. I felt like I was just as prepared or more than other auditioners, and my heart was determined to attain somewhat of a role, something minor but above what I've been given. Prostitute (Solo) my senior year? Is this because of West Side Story? Because that was two years ago, I was depressed, and I would have hoped you noticed I've gotten a little more mature since then. So a junior, who has a bad history with me gets the part I wanted. And I bought you cookies and you wrote me such a good letter and shes just more immature and less motivated than me. She's not even in Chamber Choir. Just give her my solo too then, the prostitute and I'm sure you were never even considering me for the Kirby. Like who else has heard that solo for four years in a row? Just give it to her. She didnt even try out. She doesnt even try, and everyone... even people who aren't like friends of either of us genuinely say I am better. Your loss.

I am vegetarian and Atheist

However, Thanksgiving means a lot to me since I am so so so lucky.
So please, don't call it turkey day because that's not why we have off.
